Outbound Learning Programmes:

Learning for executives on human relations issues through outbound programmes has many unique benefits that inbound training programmes can not provide. Some of the salient features of outbound learning are given below:

·         In serene surroundings one can totally focus on learning without office work interruptions through emails and phones;

·         The enchanting atmosphere of outbound sites creates a climate where people can relate informally and establish deeper bonds at personal level;

·         Variety of physical activities which involve mutual cooperation provide the expert facilitator to observe and facilitate learning on team and personality issues;

·         The learning is not tedious as in power point presentations but fun.

At UTSAV we have a decade of experience and expert facilitators who have worked on team building, leadership development, communications, stress management, networking and interpersonal themes.

Experiential Learning: Human behaviour does not change just by cognitively understanding the various aspects of the dysfunctional behaviour. Many people are struggling to deal with their anger outburts, obesity, interpersonal conflicts, lack of punctuality, inability to meet commitments and so on. Most fat people know what will reduce thei r weight  more than even Weight Management experts; but it does not help. Much more is involved in adapting functional behaviours and getting rid of dysfunctional behaviours than intellectualknowledge about these.

As an analogy one can say the difference between experiential and cognitive learning is same as in eating apple and reading about apple. Only after tasting apple you exactly know what an apple is like.

In experiential learning an expert facilitator enables one to learn and internalise the undertanding of the human processes. It also involves essentially using the emotional energy to bring about change. It draws out the latent talent of individuals and unique chemistry of groups with experts’ help. Followup is an essential ingredient of sustained change.

Examples of Experiential Learning :

·         Extending one’s comfort zone by overcoming fears as in Cliff Jumping or Steep Rock Descent in a situation that involves group dynamics;

·         Learning of necessity of interdependence as in trekking and treasure hunt;

·         Caring for each other as well complementarity of resourcefulness required in outbound situations;

·         Learning about each one’s pattern of relating and behaving and its impact on team;

·         Adjusting to change as in living in tents and makeshift toilets along a fast flowing river without electricity;

·         Involvement and learning of new physical activities such as river rafting, trekking, rock climbing, rappeling and other simulation exercises;

·         Survival during man made crisis;
